Role Summary/Purpose
Reporting to the VP, Operational Risk Programs & Assessment, this position will play a key role in supporting certain Synchrony enterprise-wide operational risk assessment programs performed by both the first and second lines of defense. These programs are maintained to ensure the identification and assessment of the operational risks inherent in all material products, activities, processes, and systems across the organization. Primary scope for this role includes the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program and Proactive Risk Acceptance Process. This includes working closely with all Risk pillars, as well as first line partners including the Enterprise Process Governance Team and first line functional governance teams.

Essential Responsibilities
Produce reporting, including supporting the design of new reporting, to ensure adherence to the RCSA Policy and Standard and to support ongoing monitoring.
Assist with tracking effective challenge activities and aggregating 2nd line RCSA effective challenge and oversight results.
Produce reporting on Risk Acceptances across Synchrony to support adherence to Synchrony’s Risk Acceptance requirements.
Maintain training materials related to the RCSA and Risk Acceptance programs, including updating and/or enhancing materials as needed, to provide support for process owners, functional governance teams, and other key stakeholders.
Partner with the eGRC Team to design and implement effective system processes for managing operational risk data and assessments in the centralized systems and reporting. This includes assisting with defining requirements for eGRC enhancements to support adherence to Policies, Standards, and Procedures, as well as identifying ongoing improvements to facilitate program execution, and any associated testing.
Deliver best-in-class risk analytics in partnership with the Risk Analytics and Enterprise Risk Teams. Prioritize visibility to operational risk data and trends, integrated and aggregate risk views, and reliable data quality monitoring
Support the governance of the Synchrony Process Universe requirements and implementation.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience documenting risk and control data and information
Bachelor’s degree, plus 3 years of work experience in the financial services industry or in lieu of degree, 5 years of financial services experience
3 years of experience with exposure to risk management within the consumer financial services industry
Experience working on technology projects, systems, and reporting
Knowledge or willingness to learn data visualization options and utilize for reporting and monitoring of risk aggregation across pillars
Desired Characteristics:
Ability to decipher complex data, identify patterns, and effectively present/communicate in a clear and concise manner
Attention to detail and follow up skills essential
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, organize work flow, and prioritize work assignments
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, levels of the business, and governing bodies such Committees or Sub-Committees
Ability to objectively identify risks, effectively challenge and communicate risks across pillars and across the organization
Tableau experience in pulling reports and building dashboards
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Prior regulatory experience and/or experience in internal audit, testing, risk or in a governance function
Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Grade/Level: 10
The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
