ALTA IT is looking for an IT Operations Analyst to join our team of experts to support the Department of Defense. The position is mainly an onsite position in Herndon, VA, with occasional remote work. The candidate will be part of the Service Continuity (Service Delivery) Team that provides operational service for a Department of Defense (DoD), application. The team also coordinates with other program teams for application releases and coordinates with the Hosting Services Team to support monthly maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will: (HIGH LEVEL), not all inclusive
- Support Production services (after government access is approved)
- Support tasks in LAB environment for training and Splunk Support for releases
- Provide 24x7x365 Operational Support for a DoD Application.
- Support on call after hours and weekend support (weekly rotations) in addition to day-to-day tasks
- Provide operational support by creating, maintaining, and executing scripts and processes used to facilitate service delivery.
- Conduct system and application morning (daily) checks and continuous checks throughout the day to ensure everything is operational. Report Daily Checks issue/incidents in JIRA tickets (create, modify, maintain, and resolve)
- Provide continuous monitoring of the system and as exceptions occur, evaluate and determine the best course of action to correct the problem in accordance with standard operating procedures, policies, and using your own judgment.
- Support Application shut down, start-up, and validations for daily system checks, incident response procedures, and monthly Hosting Services Maintenance patching cycles and support release deployments, when applicable
- Manage Incident Reports: Create, modify, and maintain incident reports, tracking service anomalies, root cause analysis and resolution and communicate with the appropriate teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Act as the primary liaison and provide communications between the Travel Assistance Center and other external partners for system degradations, scheduled maintenance, or unscheduled events.
- Provide collaboration with the Hosting Services team as well as other program teams
- ongoing communications with the team to ensure no overlap and that tasks are being addresses and prioritized.
- Perform trend analysis and review past incidents to determine patterns and ways to improve processes or prevent future occurrences. Collect data and update/maintain operations metric data
- Perform routine data loads using defined procedures and collect/post evidence
- Support Junior level administrators/technicians to provide guidance where necessary
- Create, modify, and maintain appropriate system documentation including standard operational procedures/instructions and knowledgebase for triaging the operational service.
- Create and maintain work tickets and ensure Work Tickets are worked in a timely manner, completed/implemented successfully and the work tickets are updated appropriately
- Work independently or as a member of a team on complex tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Clearance: Secret
- US Citizen
- BS 5-7 Years’ hands-on technical experience, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
- A minimum of 5 years, experience working with Linux systems as a Systems Administration or Systems Engineer
- Have at least one of the “Security” Compliance certifications and also have one of the “Computing Environment” certifications
- Ability to follow processes and procedures for starting up, shutting down applications and perform User Interface (front end) validations and backend system checks
- Hands-on/working experience with RedHat Linux operating systems and performing root cause/problem resolution.
- Working experience with SQL Developer tool (scripts for data processing for select, update, delete)
- Working experience with Apache, Tomcat, and Java applications software
- Hands-on/working experience with Monitoring Tools (e.g. Splunk Enterprise, Xymon, other)
- Knowledge/Experience of writing shell scripts in languages such as Perl and SHELL, understanding the basics here will help them in troubleshooting
- Experience working with Microsoft “TEAMS” (collaboration)
- Experience working with Microsoft Office/Office 365 (word, excel)
Certification Required: (Production Operations) for Security Compliance
- Must have a current Security CE certification or equivalent Security certification.
Must have at least one of the following:
- Security CE (Preferred)
- CySA **
- GICSP
- GSEC
- CND
- SSCP
Certification Required: (Production Operations) for Computing Environment
Must have at least one of the following:
- CompTIA Linux
- Linux LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 certification
- CompTIA Server
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Higher
- CompTIA ITF (IT Foundations)
Note: Higher versions of Linux/RHEL certifications are acceptable, but not required: (For Example): Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA or RHCE)
