Roles & Responsibilities:  

The Electronics Technician Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating RF, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering; changes. Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.  Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within the scope of work.  This position may require overtime, irregular hours, flex time and weekend work depending on support requirements. The position requires travel CONUS and OCONUS at US Government Per Diem rates. Position will include other duties as assigned.


Primary Functions: 

  • Capable of troubleshooting and isolating electronic circuits and the ability to interpret Technical Manuals and schematics. Modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability.
  • Must be able to take test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, RF generators and other job specific test equipment to include fabricating and soldering as required.
  • Must have experience working on transmitters, receivers and other associated RF components /equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of multiple computers connected by LAN and associated equipment. Must be versed in the use of Windows Operating System and other Windows related software, preferably with CAD and mapping experience.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work closely with co-workers. 


Working Conditions:

Conditions will vary. Most work accomplished in enclosed buildings.  There will be work on the range throughout the year so temperatures will vary.  They will include 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting.  The employee must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees. 


Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 2 year degree + 2 years of practical in Electronics field or equivalent High School Diploma + 8 years Avionics/ Electronics experience.
  • Computer/Networking/MS Office.  Strong Electronics background.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Interim Clearance within 30 days of hire date and maintain Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • Possess valid driver license.
