Team Leader Commercial Production

Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Team Leader of barrier production to join our Commercial team at our Cambridge City, IN site. This role will lead a team in overseeing breeding and maintenance of Commercial rodent colonies in a controlled environment. This position will generally work Monday – Friday; there may be times when the leader of a location is expected to stay late or work an alternate schedule (including weekends) to assist in ensuring work is complete.

The Role:

Team Leaders are responsible for coordinating work of Animal Care Technicians and training and motivating staff. These individuals ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met, and that the animals are fed, clean, and cared for.

Duties of Team Leader include the following:

•  Assist supervisory staff in training new employees.
• Asses daily workloads and provide animal care technicians assistance as required.
• Coordinate and order supplies.
• Enter information into databases.
• Inform Supervisor or Manager of problems.
• Audit work of Animal Care Technicians, including line audits, SOP compliance, and record keeping and packing accuracy.
• Ensure that production goals are met; initiate changes if necessary.
• Provide input to supervisor on performance of Animal Care Technicians.
• Create documents, including COPC and E-Pack.
• Hold daily huddles with barrier staff.
• Promote a positive work environment.
• Considerable physical exertion is required such as frequent climbing, crouching, crawling, and/or lifting items up to 50 pounds. 
• Performs routine cage cleaning duties

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years work experience or related training
• Organization & attention to detail a must
• Ability to motivate and empower team members to be their best
• Ability to communicate effectively
