28 year old aviation/aerospace company west of Denton is seeking a local full-time employee for Shop Technician duties. This is a full-time position for a shop-based worker within a climate controlled environment.
Company is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and follows strict guidelines to assure safety and compliance with Federal Airworthiness Regulations. The Applicant must be able to understand, read, speak and write the English language.
This position is subject to an FAA governed drug program. A pre-employment drug test is required and the Shop Technician will be subject to random testing as required by the established drug program.
Employment requires 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Shop hours are 8am to 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Paid holidays and vacation time are available. Overtime hours are rare/minimal.
Technicians perform work directly in support of repair and overhaul operations related to aircraft components, more specifically, airplane and helicopter parts. All necessary training will be provided. Shop Tech is a broad category used to describe personnel who perform sheet metal, resistance welding, paint, cleaning, and other maintenance/repair functions.
Essential Job Functions
- Utilize shop tools, fixtures, equipment, machinery, inspection aids, and hand tools to assist in the repair of aerospace components that have been sent to the company, by customers, for repair.
- Follow technical instructions to clean, disassemble, repair, weld (resistance), paint, re-assemble, and inspect aircraft parts.
- Maintaining a clean and neat work environment throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Lead or senior management.
Applicant must be able to:
- Work in a shop environment (climate controlled year round).
- Properly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Properly utilize PPE such as respirators, hearing protection, eye protection.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision (once trained).
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Properly record the work performed as that work is being accomplished, on the appropriate form(s) used by the company.
- Report any discrepancies or problems concerning paperwork, documentation, parts, repairs, company owned tools, and company owned equipment.
This position’s compensation is $15-$20 an hour, based on applicant’s pertinent qualifications. The final compensation determination will be based on the experience, education, and ability of the applicant. This position has a 90-day probationary period.
