Overview

We are currently seeking a Information System Security Officer, the selected candidate will perform tasks delegated by the ISSM in support various information assurance programs such as security authorization activities in compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies and procedures to include: System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, A&A packages, and Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM). Maintains operational security posture to ensure information systems (IS), security policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed. Performs vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support Assessment & Authorization (A&A). Provides configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware and participates Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Characterize and analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources.
  • Ensure that cybersecurity-enabled products or other compensating security control technologies reduce identified risk to acceptable security levels.
  • Maintain operational security posture for an information system or program. 
  • Apply a full range of Cybersecurity policies, principles and techniques to maintain security integrity of information systems processing classified information.
  • Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.
  • Conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing vulnerabilities in security systems
  • Perform security reviews and identify security gaps in security architecture resulting in recommendations for inclusion in the risk.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cyber defense tools for continual monitoring and analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity.
  • Work with government stakeholders to resolve computer security incidents and vulnerability compliance.
  • Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan.
  • Provide Configuration Management for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware; Perform risk analysis (e.g., threat, vulnerability, and probability of occurrence) whenever an application or system undergoes a major change.
  • Provide input to the Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation (e.g., system life-cycle support plan)
  • Ensure that Plans of Actions and Milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessment.

Equipment Used: Laptop Computer and peripheral equipment

 

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment with USG provided NMCI Computer and peripheral equipment
  • TEA Corporate laptop will be provided at the discretion of Executive Management

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Possibility of Domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word andExcel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understandthe points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 8 years of relevant experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), System Security Plans (SSPs), A&A packages, and SCTM
  • Require DoD approved IAT Level II Baseline Certification
  • eMASS expert level experience

Customer Interface Activities:

Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involvingstakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managingexpectations.

 

Work Schedule:   

  • 9/80
  • Able to efficiently adapt to new priorities. This includes effectively multitasking project responsibilities with an awareness to support changes as needed.
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploman or Equivilant (with six years of experience)
  • Desired Bachelors Degree in technical field (e.g. Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, EE)

Certifications:

  • IAT Level II
  • CompTIA Security  

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
