What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at TAI?
TAI Engineering is working with one of the largest producers of home improvement products in the U.S. to identify an engineering manager for its Baltimore, MD plant.
The engineering manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating the activities of the Engineering and Maintenance Departments. Responsible for Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Efficiency, Cost, Project Management, and Maintaining the facility. Directly responsible for 20 Maintenance Associates and Engineering.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Plan and Coordinate the efforts of the engineering and maintenance departments to provide a maintenance, capital project management and continuous improvement plan that utilizes best practices to effectively support continuous improvement and optimize cost.
- Establish and monitor key metrics in all functional areas.
- Analyze data, identify trends, and implement needed corrections to ensure processes and practices stay in control while continuous improvement objectives are obtained.
- Using data driven analysis, drive continuous improvement in the plant's overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) metrics, focusing on equipment availability.
- Recommend / Engineer cost savings ideas.
- Develop annual plant capital budget.
- Define and accurately cost projects.
- Develop project descriptions and capital appropriation requests.
- Perform cost justifications.
- Manage capital budget and project timelines.
- Develop and maintain plant 5-year capital plan.
- Instill continuous improvement in safety and housekeeping results. Establish industry best housekeeping standards, procedures, and associate practices to maintain a professional, neat, and safe facility.
- Participate in strategic planning, annual budget process, and annual physical inventory (maintenance) process as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and reporting requirements.
- Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff.
