Fleet Manager & Dispatcher

Position Overview:

As our Fleet Manager & Dispatcher, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our diverse fleet, which includes both dry van over-the-road (OTR) and drayage trucks. Your expertise in dispatching, load booking, negotiation, and fleet safety will be crucial in maintaining our high standards of service and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Dispatch and Load Booking: Efficiently coordinate and dispatch all trucks, managing both dry van OTR and drayage operations. Use your one year of dispatch experience to optimize routes and schedules for maximum efficiency.

• Spot Business Mastery: Excel in booking and negotiating spot business on loadboards, securing profitable loads that align with our operational goals and capabilities.

• Fleet Safety and Compliance: Maintain a strong commitment to fleet safety, ensuring all trucks adhere to safety regulations and protocols. Implement training programs to enhance safety awareness and practices.

• Communication: Establish effective communication channels with drivers, providing them with clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their journeys.

• Problem Solving: Rapidly address and resolve any operational challenges or issues that arise, making quick decisions to ensure minimal disruptions.

• Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, load bookings, and fleet performance. Generate reports to provide insights into operational efficiency and areas for improvement.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing dispatch processes, load booking strategies, and overall fleet performance. Collaborate with other teams to implement improvements.

• Collaboration: Work closely with our logistics and operations teams to synchronize drayage and OTR operations, ensuring seamless coordination and resource allocation.

Requirements:

• Dispatch Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in fleet dispatch, with a proven track record of effective load booking and negotiation, particularly in spot business on loadboards.

• Negotiation Skills: Proficient in securing competitive rates for spot business while maintaining profitability.

• Safety Focus: Strong commitment to fleet safety and compliance, with the ability to implement safety training programs.

• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with drivers, clients, and internal teams.

• Problem Solver: Quick thinker with the ability to make effective decisions in high- pressure situations.

• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.

• Logistics Knowledge: Familiarity with drayage and OTR operations, understanding of transportation regulations, and load securing best practices.

• Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using dispatch software, loadboards, and other relevant tools.

• Collaborative Spirit: Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
