Position Purpose
The Assets team manages the company fleet of reusable rentals items. This includes tracking, storage, maintenance, and preparation of large stock items across multiple locations. The Hoist Mechanic will ensure all required hoist inspections and maintenance plans/programs are implemented for our rental fleet. They will help enable the Assets team to deliver stage machinery to projects efficiently and professionally.
Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities
• Interpret schematics, drawings, and manufacturer guidelines in order to achieve the desired results
• Prepare, assemble, test and maintain chain hoists
• Service, test and modify chain hoists to ensure the assets can be delivered to a high standard of quality and reliability. Perform any required modifications
• Be responsible for the satisfactory delivery of hoists to other departments on time and on budget
• Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will improve the build quality or efficiency
• Use asset management systems to keep current and accurate records
• Maintain tools, work areas. and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion; perform and document periodic inspections of all machines
• Support a safe working environment and follow safe working practices
• Continue technical knowledge through training and mentorship
• Maintain an understanding of entertainment standards
Minimum Qualifications
• Mechanical background
• Familiarity with chain hoists and their operation
• ETCP, CM Hoist, or other similar certification
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Understanding of entertainment standards and regulations regarding overhead lifting a plus
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents
• Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues
• Prior experience with Navigator automation platform a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly to people entering the department.
• Ability to problem solve as needed.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Capacity to work independently, and as a member of a small team
• Ability to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility with work schedule, including some holidays and alternate shifts as required; ability to work OT (more than 40 hours) in any given week as needed
