Job Description
The Product Owner is the sole person responsible for managing the Team Backlog. Product Backlog management includes:
- Clearly expressing Product Backlog items
- Ordering items in the Product backlog to best achieve goals and missions
- Ensuring the value of the work the Development Team performs
- Ensuring that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all
- Shows what the POD Team will work on next
- Ensuring the Development Team understands items in the Product Backlog to the level needed
Sprint Execution:
- Backlog Refinement at both Feature and Story level.
- Breakdown Features and User Stories during Sprint Planning and Prioritising to ensure a constant flow of ‘Ready’ user stories for sprints
- Assisting in writing and developing acceptance criteria, Accepting stories
- Participate in POD showcases (demo) and retrospectives
- Syncing up with other POD’s to ensure dependencies/ priorities are coordinated at the Platform level
- Work cross-functionally to align internal stakeholders on near-term goals and priorities.
- Own and participate in POD Scrum ceremonies such as backlog grooming, stand-ups and sprint planning in cooperation with the Development Manager
- Partner with Product Managers to ensure prioritisation supports product strategy, market needs, and overall company vision
- Support beta tests and product launches
- Manage select vendor relationships, acting as a liaison for Customer Success.
- Preparation and active participation in Pl Planning, including a thorough understanding of business/PI priorities so this can dictate the team backlog priorities
- Own the Product Roadmap development and influencing key stakeholders for buy-in on business priorities
- Document business requirements in the form of user stories/acceptance criteria
- Document and execute test cases as required
- Design and maintain pod documentation and processes in conjunction with the development manager of the POD
- Supporting best practise in member experience
Qualifications
Exceptional communication and leadership skills – possessing a willingness to empower as well as inspire commitment and positive attitude in the team
- Strong stakeholder management skills including constructively challenging to obtain the best outcome
- Result oriented with ability to drive high operational efficiency with a high level of detail
- Innovation driven thought leader, influencing stakeholders to adopt new vision for new or existing software systems
- Able to articulate complex technical challenges to technical and non-technical audiences
- Able to articulate the value APIs will provide to both TAL and its partners
- Developed analysis skills and problem solving skills, with a particular focus within Group Life Insurance – Claims, Underwriting and Administration
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications, and articulated solutions
- Ability to develop and execute test cases based on business requirements
- Essential attributes
- At least three (3-5) years’ experience as a Product Owner or comparable role, working with Agile Delivery Teams, utilising Agile / Scrum / KANBAN
Atleast 3-5 years Group LIfe Iinsurance or Life Insurance experience
Experience in digital platforms idelivery including including implementing modern UI/UX frameworks
Ability to manage priorities and timelines
Desirable
Qualificat ions (CSPO, ASPO,CSM, A-SCM, Busines Analysis or Project Manager Management)
