Required: Minimum 5 years' experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v6,V7.x and v8 in a datacenter environment
Required areas of knowledge & experience:
Installation of RHEL7and 8 in a standalone and VMware environment
Stop, Start, restart, enable and disable running of software & system service daemons via systemd system and service manager
Installation, update and inventory of software packages via rpm command
Shell scripting experience, e.g. bash for routine system administration tasks, creating reports
"yum" for patching and package installation from central repository
Cron/crontab for periodic scheduled jobs
Creation & management of filesystems and volumes using LVM, partitioning of disk devices
System performance analysis, system log analysis and system troubleshooting techniques
Logrotate for periodic rotation and compression or purge of older logs
Remediation of common Linux server issues such as filesystem nearly full, user cannot login, etc.
TCP/IP networking: Configuration, troubleshooting, use of tcpdump and Wireshark
Setup/configuration of network interfaces
Setup/configuration of typical networked services such as DNS, NTP, NFS, FTP, SFTP,SSH,Apache HTTPD,CIFS,SMB/Samba,syslog/rsyslog
Security hardening practices, including RHEL7's firewalld
SSH authentication techniques (password, key-based)
Use of sudo, sudoers file, and "sudoers.d" directory
Grub configuration & setup to control Linux boot and system parameters at boot time
Troubleshooting all of the above
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preparation of documentation for technical staff and management (technical procedures, description and diagramming of operational & network flow, performance reports, etc.)
Create periodic reports to document your job activities
Required Skills and Experience
RHCSA (Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator RHEL V7.x)
Red Hat Satellite V6.x used for administration of RHEL7 systems
Familiarity with system tuning & setup requirements for Oracle RDBMS utilizing ASM disks
Familiarity with system tuning & setup requirements for Vertica database
MediaWiki for online documentation management
NMON/NMON Visualizer (collection & reporting of system performance information)
Postfix SMTP gateway
Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP (as a "client" of these services, not as an administrator under Windows)
Systems programming language (Python preferred, or Perl)
Management of SSL certificates for HTTPD/webserver
Microsoft SCOM agent on Linux
RHEL V6.x system administration
Simple HTML web page creation, also forms pages with back-end scripting language (Python, Perl) to accept/sanitize/parse submitted form data.
