Preservation Assistant (volunteer)

Taliesin Preservation of Spring Green, WI is looking for volunteers to work alongside our Preservation team to assist with ongoing stabilization and preservation. This volunteer position offers a lot of flexibility. We would like to create a pool of volunteers interested in assisting with preservation work in various capacities. This work would be project-based and we would ask volunteers to commit for the duration of the project. Volunteers must have proven skills to volunteer for this work. ABOUT TALIESIN PRESERVATION

As stewards of the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, our dual mission is to preserve the cultural, built, and natural environments that comprise the Taliesin property and to conduct educational and cultural programs that provide a greater understanding of his architecture and ideas. We are different from other historic sites because we are not satisfied with just being a museum. We want the estate to stay filled with life.

VOLUNTEERING AS A PRESERVATION ASSISTANT

As a Preservation Assistant, you will be part of a team that assists with specific preservation and stabilization projects. This position is highly flexible but volunteers must possess the necessary skills to do the work safely and with limited supervision.

It is an opportunity to work in a community that embraces the principles of Frank Lloyd Wright's vision through the integration of farming, gardening, and cooking as a celebration of a beautiful way of living.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SPECIAL EVENT AMBASSADOR

• Volunteers must already possess the skills necessary for the project they commit to. Generally this will be considered 3-5 years of work related experience. In some specialized cases, more experience may be necessary. If your skills come from a hobby, providing a portfolio of your work is required;
• Possession of work tools is a plus;
• Thorough working knowledge of construction standards, methods, and materials; and
• Ability to take direction and work independently.

Experience is a must but we are happy to train willing hands in the specifics of work on the estate. Do you love working with your hands?
