What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess position at Talk of the Town Restaurants, Inc.?
SUMMARY:
This position supports the Dining Room Manager in providing service to patrons to the above restaurant by directing the table seating to reflect the most efficient use of the front staff while keeping service delays at a minimum. This position also controls the availability of tables so that new clientele is presented with clean tables with available waiters and staff. The Hostess backs up the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager by answering the telephone and directing messages. The Hostess has further responsibilities in maintaining a positive demeanor and appearance that enhances the occasion for the customer and in carrying out the duties efficiently and quickly. The Hostess must always show a smile, and must always be ready to do whatever is needed to ensure the satisfaction of our guests
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
- Preferred: Wait service or the equivalent experience at full service restaurant. Open Table experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This person will work in a full service restaurant which is a temperature controlled environment subject to moderate noise. This person will be subject to hazards associated with food serving and clearing including: slippery surfaces, crowded walk ways, sharp utensils, broken glassware and dishes, and hot food and liquids.
The Host/Hostess’s hours are dependent upon the weekly schedule established by the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager of a 5 day work week, busy restaurant. Hours worked, however, must reflect the actual time required for the successful completion of a project/task.
This is a variable position, and as such, there is no guarantee for a specific number of hours.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Host/Hostess reports to the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager. The Host/Hostess will have working relationships with all the department managers .
