Consideration for full time employment: Our Field Internships program is utilized as a talent pipeline for our full time positions after graduation! Primary purpose: The Intern will work alongside Tallgrass’ Technicians to learn activities related to electrical, measurement, and control integrity including design, installation, inspection, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration and adjust various pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, electronic, and Programmable Logic (PLC) control systems. The internship is intended to help an individual develop their work skills and knowledge while providing a link between their educational goals and career objectives. The goal of this internship is to transition to full-time employment at Tallgrass in the future. The duration of the internships is approximately 10 weeks during the summer. Learn how to: - Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform Inspection and Maintenance (I & M) checks on control systems.
- Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution.
- Observe performance of advanced engine/compressor/pump analytical testing.
- Observe efforts to develop and implement changes as a result of the analytical testing.
- Observe the evaluation/development/implementation/maintenance of facility grounding systems.
- Install, analyze, and repair security/intrusion systems.
- General upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements. Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Actively participate in safety and security program and initiatives.
- Participate in the development of Operations & Maintenance Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

Minimum requirements: Education: - High School Diploma.
- Student actively enrolled in industrial electrician, electromechanical, measurement or other electrical technical or associates degree program with an expected graduation date of May 2023, December 2024, or May 2025.
Experience/Specific Knowledge: - Experience using MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: - Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge, or wiliness to learn of measurement and control equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, etc.), data acquisition, and communications
- Demonstrates basic knowledge on measuring/inspection instruments and or mechanical and electrical components and their principles, properties, and theories
- Basic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions
- Ability to collect, organize, interpret, and present data with quality and accuracy.
- Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
- Strong focus on safe work practices.
