Senior Facilities Engineer

Talos Energy is a leading offshore energy company focused on offshore oil and gas exploration and production as well as the development of future carbon capture and storage opportunities in the United States Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico and offshore Mexico.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will provide topsides engineering and construction support for Talos properties in the GOM. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Monitor and provide leadership and technical guidance the engineering effort for projects and Operations support for the Talos GOM properties.
• Monitor and maintain the topsides facilities budgets for the properties under your direction
• Monitor and maintain the project schedules
• Coordinate offshore construction projects optimize synergies between the fields.
• Provide Facilities Engineering support for the assigned Talos properties
• Provide regular project updates for ongoing projects
• Ensure work is properly defined and executed
• Provide regular reports on Vendor usage and performance (engineering and construction)
• Ensure project engineering deliverables are submitted on-time with respect to the project schedules
• Review equipment specifications and data sheets for accuracy and evaluate for “fit for purpose”.
• Ensure all engineering and project tasks are completed within internal, governmental and contractual requirements.
• Ensure a strong level of HSE awareness and implementation.
• Provide topsides engineering support to ensure Talos facilities remain in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Interface with governmental regulatory agencies as needed.
• Provide Topsides engineering support to assist in resolving topsides related issues and system debottlenecking.
• Review and comment on governmental (BSEE, ABS, CG) submittal packages. Ensure timely and complete delivery of the same.
• Ensure proper team engagement with Operations
• Weekly project and Engineering support updates
• Monthly offshore construction update schedules
• Monthly budget performance reviews
• Monthly Topsides facilities dashboard updates including:
  • Total AFEs
  • AFE performance (actual vs plan) for completed AFEs
  • Shut in days (actual vs plan)
  • TRIR for construction projects
  • Offshore manhour tracking
  • Other (TBD)
• Ensure the proper and timely development and execution of Facility Engineering initiatives
• Assist in personnel development of direct reports
• Development of goals and objectives that roll into the overall Facilities Group and Talos goals and objectives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
• At least 10 - 15 years of topsides engineering experience.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with management, engineers, peers, contractors and regulatory personnel.
• Must have strong computer skills. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project and Power Point).
• Ability to work in stressful conditions and think clearly.
• Ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relations with employees and contractors. 
• Ability to effectively work with a large number of personnel performing operational functions. 
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion.  A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
