- Ensure that the Core Values, Plays, and Cultural Inputs are known and executed.
- Provide direction and leadership to the Maintenance personnel, including a clear definition of TAMKO’s Core Values, Plays, and Culture as well individual expectations, feedback on performance and when necessary, discipline to correct unacceptable behavior.
- Ensure that employees are aware of the company’s expectations of them.
- Conduct periodic evaluations of personnel to assess training and development needs.
- Submit, after consultation with the Leads, an annual training plan for his department.
- Ensure that Safety and Compliance are always followed in all activities.
- Responsible for the Reliability of all plant equipment and structures.
- Ensure that the maintenance department is a data driven department
- Coordinate the input of all plant equipment into SAP and support inspection data entry into the PM system to ensure completeness, applicability and accuracy.
- Work to implement autopilot to improve the efficiency of the maintenance department
- Discussions with maintenance and operational personnel on planned and scheduled maintenance requirements.
- Discussions with production personnel on equipment availability, preparedness, state of repair(s).
- Ensure the storeroom has the availability of spares, correct status of requisitions etc. for the maintenance of plant equipment.
- Improve and verify the accuracy and completeness of the maintenance work order system.
- Prepare monthly report to be submitted to the General Manager.
- Coordinate and run the daily review and weekly maintenance & production meetings.
- Project planning and capital allocation.
- Monitor the ongoing expenditures in the department, approve requisitions, approve invoices and explain variances from the plan each month.
- Work with Management to submit an annual major capital budget for all major maintenance repairs or renovations or additions anticipated in the upcoming year.
- Assist the General Manager in the preparation of the annual capital plan, giving advice on the mechanical components of the projects.
- Shutdown preparation and planning support
- Provide insight and ideas into improvements, which could be, incorporated into the plant equipment to enable higher productivity, lower maintenance costs, and improved quality and/or lower energy consumption.

- Constantly evaluate the quality and efficiency of the maintenance department workmanship in the support of operational excellence as measured by the key process metrics.
This position will be responsible for the safety of personnel in its umbrella and as such, will ensure:
- Familiarity with rules, procedures and policies governing or related to safety.
- \ Regular safety inspections of personnel and their workplace are conducted to ensure compliance.
- Any safety hazards or violations that may be encountered or are reported to him are documented and acted on in an appropriate fashion immediately.
- Regular safety talks are conducted with trade’s personnel under his authority.
- Regular safety observations are conducted in the plant on production or maintenance personnel.
- Lockout/ tag out procedures are regularly audited with maintenance personnel
Leadership and Skill Requirements
- Exceptional leadership
- Understand people and how to motivate them
- Be on the plant floor to know and address their problems.
- Project management skills – be able to juggle numerous projects at once in a fluid environment.
- Safety Focus
- Knowledge or certification of Six Sigma/ PLC Programming/ Autopilot a plus.
- Experience in web-based or textile industry a plus.
