POSITION CONCEPT
The Supvr Fleet Services is responsible for the safe, proper, and cost-effective operation of the Tampa
Electric Company’s (TEC) Electric Delivery and Electric Supply (ED/ES) Fleet garage or garages assigned.
Provides direct supervision of human and material resources required for the construction,
maintenance, fueling and repair of Energy Delivery and Energy Supply rolling fleet and related
equipment to include planning work from user departments and other garages. Assure that safety
awareness among all employees is a way of life. Foster an environment to ensure that safe working
conditions are maintained while monitoring Safe Work Practices laws and regulations.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Lead and follow-up on outsource work and ensure that the repairs meet TEC, manufacturer, ANSI
and OSHA standards.
Ensure that the environmental standards of shop operations are followed by all employees and
assist in any audits, as necessary. Compile and monitor the Fleet Services Annual Budget. Provide
variance explanations upon request.
Audit and approve Fleet Services processes and databases, including invoice payment approvals,
payroll and AssetWorks M5 system data.
Assist in resolving employee issues including contract issues and employee complaints. 10%
Support the performance and training of all team members. Observe each employee's skills and
make appropriate training available as needed. Lead Performance Review, Positive Discipline, EAP,
SWP and intervention as appropriate for job related performance.
Monitor Inventory Status for garage storeroom.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Fleet Services.
SUPERVISION
Direct: ED/ES Fleet Services IBEW-covered staff consisting of Garage team members. Provide
supervision as required for both day and night shift operations at various locations
within Fleet Services on a 24x7 schedule.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Effectively interface with all employees within TECO Energy concerning their fleet
equipment needs. Work with employees represented by the IBEW and fellow
performance coaches within the department and user departments.
Key External: Interact effectively with those outside TECO Energy who have contracted for goods,
services and sales to the company.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college/university
Experience
Required: Minimum of 5 years of industrial equipment work experience in a fleet environment and
related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required: Performance history must support sustained performance above the acceptable level
with demonstrated ability to assume greater responsibility. Must have demonstrated
strengths in the Job Related Dimensions and proven leaderships skills.
Working knowledge of company budgetary concepts and the technical application of
tools, parts and vehicle repair as related to the operation of Energy Delivery, Energy
Supply and other departments and Manufacturer, ANSI and OSHA standards is required.
Must have a working knowledge of a LAN/WAN PC environment along with Microsoft
Office software and the Fleet Service work order management system (Asset Works).
Preferred: Thorough knowledge and understanding of Procurement, or Inventory Management
Functions Is Preferred.
