Job Details
The MST Therapist will function as a member of a Multisystemic Therapy Treatment team providing behaviorally-based treatments for high-risk youth and their families. Duties include in-home assessment, community-based treatment, documentation, and proactive collaboration with youth, families, community member, and stakeholders in the youth and family ecosystem in full fidelity to the MST model.
Examples of Essential Functions
- Conduct MST assessment, including a review of referral information, identifying, and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context.
- Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
- Develop therapeutic, working relationships with youth and their families.
- Provide parent education, coaching and training as indicated by MST model.
- Implement a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcomes review and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process.
- Facilitate collateral contacts with representatives from schools and other community organizations and key community members on behalf of youth and families, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships.
Qualifications
Qualified Candidates
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field.
- Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic and functional) family therapies.
- Previous experience with individual therapy with adolescents and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques.
- Knowledge of marital therapy using behaviorally-based approaches.
- Previous experience in behavioral therapy targeting school behavior and academic performance.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications
- Iowa licensure required.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and meet the Agency's driving requirements.
