A legal services firm in New York City is currently seeking a new Paralegal for a promising opportunity with their Litigation team. In this role the Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for assisting with complex litigation, including the organization of documents and evidence, case filings, preparation for depositions, court hearings and trial, and working with e-discovery and case management software.
Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal will:
- Collaborate closely with Attorneys and other support staff professionals to ensure seamless communication and meet all case-related deadlines.
- Develop and establish protocols, procedures and work product templates so that cases are efficiently managed and organized
- Establish and oversee the infrastructure and organization of all case files
- Assist with drafting and preparation of motion papers
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of discovery, including the organization, management, collection and production of electronic discovery
- Oversee, coordinate, and take ownership of pre-trial and trial assignments
- Assist in preparation for depositions and trial testimony
- Attend and support court proceedings, including oral arguments on motions, arbitrations and trials
- Prepare and oversee federal and state court filings (both electronic and physical), ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules and procedures
- Interact and negotiate with litigation vendors and court personnel, managing relationships and ensuring cooperation
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3 years of Substantive Litigation Paralegal experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Background on pre-trial discovery, motion practice and court proceedings gained from a litigation firm
- A strong preference for candidates with trial preparation and support experience.
- Knowledge of civil litigation in New York federal and state courts, including applicable legal procedures, terminology and court rules.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and OneDrive
- Solid problem solving and time management skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency with Electronic Discovery Review platforms such as Relativity and Logikcull
- Trial Preparation and Support experience.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
