JOB SUMMARY
The MRO Buyer is responsible for the tactical sourcing function for MRO (maintenance, repairs and operations) items for all Tangent facilities. You will have sourcing responsibilities for other indirect items as deemed appropriate, managing, and maintaining MRO material master data and ensuring we receive the best overall value for the dollars spent.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Will work with satellite locations overseeing and maintaining current inventory.
- Sources new vendors based on current and future demands.
- Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
- Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
- Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
- Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records. Expedite orders as needed.
- Communicate any changes to purchase orders with the requestor.
- Monitor and manage all open purchase orders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field highly preferred.
- At least one year of purchasing experience preferred.
- APICS or equivalent certification is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
