JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Night Service Department: Maintenance
FLSA Status: ATU Pay: $21.05

JOB SUMMARY:
The Night Service employee performs routine checks of bus operations and ensures that the buses are prepared for service.
In addition, the Night Service employee is responsible for towing and recovery, and various other servicing duties. The
Night Service employee must be proficient in all duties of the Cleaner. The Night Service job description includes all the
requirements found in the Cleaner description.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Routine Maintenance
- Checking coolant, fuel, and transmission fluid levels
- Cleaning and performing basic maintenance on exterior of bus
- Cleaning interior of bus in preparation for daily operation
- Pulling and emptying fare boxes
- Alerting supervisor to more complex mechanical problems
- Perform PMI’s and minor mechanical repairs under Instructor Supervision
Assistance Call Response
- Driving wrecker to service site
- Lifting and towing inoperable buses
- Jump-starting stalled buses
- Moving materials in garage using forklift
- Using computer system to log completed repairs and requisition more complicated repairs as necessary
Miscellaneous Duties
- Remove trash and snow
- Clean work area and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned to gain experience and knowledge of more complex mechanical and electrical
components

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with passenger and airbrake endorsements
- Forklift license
JOB DESCRIPTION

- Understanding of basic operation requirements of bus; including required fluid levels, reading gauges, etc.

- Learn additional skills on the job to advance toward upper level Mechanic position
- Must be able to perform all of the following physical tasks:
- Crawling on a daily basis for distances of up to 10 feet
- Standing for intervals of 4 hours or more without rest
- Reaching on a daily basis above shoulder height to retrieve, place or sort objects weighing in excess
- of 25 lbs
