Position Title: Loan Officer / Loan Fund Specialist

Reports To: Executive Director

Job Level: Non-Exempt

Supervises: None

Hours: Full time

Tatanka Funds is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of a Loan Fund Specialist.

Position Summary: The Loan Fund Specialist, in coordination with the executive director and loan committee, is responsible for all day-to-day activities associated with maintaining the revolving loan fund and dealing with any loan client matters. The Loan Fund Specialist serves as the primary contact with clients of the organization, reviewing and processing loan applications, servicing and maintaining customer financial records, tracking client’s credit performance, and collecting on past due accounts.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides information to clients and the general public regarding loan policies, procedures and products.
  • Monitors loan and investment portfolios.
  • Processes loan applications.
  • Maintains client information records.
  • Analyzes applicants’ credit suitability through cash flow/financial work sheets, business plan, and other data. Assists with determining applicants’ credit eligibility.
  • Works with other employees to identify and service customers’ needs.
  • Records and maintains standard operating procedures relating to loan processing and loan management.

Recommends changes and improvements.

  • Assists with the production of grant reports and other documentation.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Loan Committee meeting schedules, acting as the point of contact and responds to information requests from the Loan Committee.
  • Prepares any other reports or documentation as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Cross-trains and performs other roles to achieve the organization’s mission.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

General Qualifications, Knowledge, And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or

Public Policy preferred. Alternatively, an equal amount of time of demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in the profit or non-profit arena, specifically dealing with lending, personal finance and business management and/or leadership.

  • Working knowledge of financial statements and GAAP standards.
  • Managerial skills: leading, planning, organizing, controlling, and administrating.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting and planning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with tribal, federal, state, regional, local agencies/organizations, community leaders, and the general public, especially clients of the organization.
  • Must have strong literacy, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and commonly used office software, as well as financial/loan software used within the organization.
  • Must be able to work in a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check upon hiring.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this role, the employee is required to walk; use hands and fingers; handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift/carry and/or move up to 30 pounds safely.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this role, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions and other elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. This role may require regular travel in commercial planes, AMHS ferries, float planes, twin-engine planes, buses, cars or other vehicles.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
