What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Tate & Lyle?
Responsibilities:
Success in this position would require a detail-oriented person with a sense of urgency and ownership to complete tasks and assignments on time and according to direction.
General Lab Responsibilities:
- Regular cleaning and organization of lab and culinary center areas
- Daily/weekly/monthly tasks to ensure efficient use of labs
- Weighing food ingredients
- Simple food processing such as baking or beverage preparation
- Run analytical measurements on food products (pH, Aw, viscosity, etc.)
- Packaging and labeling of food prototypes
- Ordering food ingredients and supplies as needed
- Assisting with product evaluations and sensory panels
- Keeping proper records of work plans and completed activities in lab notebook
- Attend, participate in and contributes to invited meetings
Safety Responsibilities:
- Complete all safety training and participate in all safety activities

Sanitize food equipment according to GMP guidelines
- Maintain a safe working environment for self and others in the group
Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in a science related field or be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic science and cooking skills such as weight measurements, pH, etc. Candidates must be able to work in a project team-driven environment, manage workload and adhere to deadlines.
