Job Description and Expectations

Overview

  • Must achieve passing score on basic computer skills test
  • Audit work and established department processes to ensure quality of products and work performed.
  • Actively work to resolve discrepancies and open issues, including those listed on the QSR action matrix
  • Maintain high standards and uncompromised integrity to protect our customers and consumers
  • Perform established QC checks utilizing established and future quality tools, including ensuring all HAACP checks are completed, and documentation is maintained
  • Make sure quality and production samples are collected and delivered in the required intervals
  • Verify all completed MCL and Zone Audit documents.
  • Attend all production, communication, and training meetings as required by the organization and/or department leadership
  • Organize, plan, and utilize resources to meet specific productivity and efficiency objectives
  • Coordinate and collaborate with representatives from outside groups such as up and down stream departments leaders and operators, safety, quality, planning, maintenance and inventory
  • Make and implement department staffing decisions including team combinations, resources required, work assignments, and work schedules
  • Troubleshoot and investigate barriers to meeting departmental objectives and eliminate when possible, offer solutions, or take an active role in recruiting the resources necessary to remove these barriers
  • Lead crew and make on-line decisions as needed
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and solve technical issues on the equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Capable of performing and coaching employees on equipment CL and CIL activities
  • Demonstrate effective communication between shifts including, but not limited to safety, quality, and productivity
  • Procure the necessary resources/materials to achieve team success
  • Maintain critical established department paperwork including but not limited to overtime sign-up sheets, production logs, absenteeism records, downtime documentation, HAACP documentation.
  • Develop and execute “when down do” activity list for team to include productive tasks during scheduled and unscheduled downtime
  • Build capability of the organization by providing on the spot coaching to employees to improve equipment performance.
  • Ensure management is aware of production issues and intended resolution utilizing the department established notification triggers.
  • Actively support TPM and NWT programs. Will take on the role of Team Leader in at least 1 shift team. 
  • Role model department TPM objectives and priorities including AM, PM, FI and OCCI as determined by the department and NWT teams
  • Ensure all areas are maintained to 5S standards
  • Lead Why-Why and 7 Step events to eliminate loss or waste
  • Develop training, SOPs, OPLs, and training manuals as requested
  • Be proficient in training in both classroom and OJT settings
  • Manage raw and consumable material inventory, including completion of counts and receipts into SAP/ADC
  • Write work requests through INFOR system
  • Order all tools, supplies, etc. from stock room or through an outside vendor after receiving management approval.
  • Manage finished product inventory including timely completion of confirmations and clearing of back flush errors
  • Foster an inclusive and fair work environment including a workplace free from harassment or favoritism. Promote civil interaction between team members form all departments and address divisive or hostile behaviors. Escalate any serious conflict involving threats, violence, harassment, retaliation, substance abuse, etc.
  • Seek and listen to improvement ideas from team members
  • Demonstrate strong follow-up on issues brought forward by team members
  • Demonstrates understanding of process upset investigation and response
  • Strive to keep equipment and processes functioning smoothly to minimize frustration and stress
  • Ensure training and education is documented, understood, and executed
  • Facilitate effective communication downward, upward, and across department lines 
  • Facilitate team meetings as necessary
  • Maintain balance and equality of work assignments
  • Proactively maintain morale through teamwork and positive interaction with crews, acting as a confidante to team members and liaison to leadership
  • Will on occasion need to flex schedule to alternate shifts to support the department needs
  • Will need to work more than 40 hours a week when needed to support operations
  • Train identified back-up and/or new Lead if and when applicable
  • Lead performance will be evaluated and coaching provided a minimum of one time per period
  • Fruit Receiving and Processing leads perform driving, operating ramps, grading, operating bins, OPIV, logistics, extractor clean up and general clean up activities during periods of not performing Lead duties due to lack of staffing.
  • Fruit Receiving and Processing leads utilize Operators within the department over periods of time for the purposes of training, operating and gaining experiences is an acceptable practice when the Lead believes it is appropriate.

  • Leads manage FIFO process

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years recent work experience in a manufacturing facility, food production preferred as a machine operator and or warehouse operator
  • Team Lead experience
  • Cleaning and sanitation experience
  • Machine Operator experience a plus

Safety

  • Have the required certification and comply with all Peak Performance training programs
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules, procedures, policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Set an example for others by demonstrating adherence to safety rules, procedures, policies and GMP’s.
  • Proactively and aggressively address safety gaps.
  • Participate in department safety audits and department walk-throughs
