Overall Expectations or Position Purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for communicating all pertinent freight information to drivers and customers in a region of assigned responsibility. Supervise and maintain equipment providing load capacity. Work directly with internal employees and manage expectations against operational capabilities. Employ a strategic approach by problem solving and develop corrective actions to enhance operational performance.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for the supervision and management of a fleet of drivers, to assure proper and timely loading and delivery of products to customers.
- Assurance of DOT compliance and administration of all reporting procedures and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for fleet efficiency including driver productivity, miles, legal HOS, operation, availability, customer service and pre-planning performance.
- Management of claims OS/D.
- Assist with development of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the driver workforce.
- Interaction with outside freight vendors and coordination of scheduling requirements.
- Build relationships, solve issues, and assist customers and drivers with their individual needs.
Job Requirements:
Operational Skills: This position requires an individual experienced in the movement of freight and driver relations. We are looking for a fundamentally solid performer who is consistently able to facilitate multiple projects and remain productive under pressure.
Management: This position requires experience in managing and developing a team. Troubleshooting any issues with a driver pick up or delivery to ensure proper freight delivery.
Analysis: Coordinating with operational staff in order to receive maximum productivity from drivers while operating within DOT, OSHA and other company safety departments.
Communication: This position requires the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers; and the ability to confront and resolve performance or service issues with drivers and customers effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years transportation management experience with degree.
- 10 years transportation management experience without degree.
- CDL is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Familiarization with DOT and OSHA rules and regulations is a plus.
- Fleet management experience.
- Strong analysis and decision-making skills.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

- Range $70k - $80k (Based on experience)
