What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Dispatcher position at TCI Transportation?
TCI is looking for a reliable Dispatcher to act as a communication point for emergency and non-emergency calls. You will receive requests, transmit messages and track vehicles. The ideal candidate must be primarily an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. You must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.
Schedule:
This position will require the employee’s primary schedule to be Monday and Thursday through Sunday (off Tuesday and Wednesday) from 12:00p.m.-8p.m.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supervision and management of a fleet of drivers, to assure proper and timely loading and delivery of products to customers.
- Assurance of DOT compliance and administration of all reporting procedures and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for fleet efficiency including driver productivity, miles, legal HOS, operation, availability, customer service and planning performance.
- Assist with development of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the driver workforce.
- Interaction with outside freight vendors and coordination of scheduling requirements.
- Build relationships, solve issues, and assist account managers, customers, and drivers with their individual needs.
- Manage the load board via McLeod and handle all aspects of the system including accepting EDI’s, closing loads etc… to ensure live dispatch is flowing through our systems.
- Track and trace drivers using McLeod and Samsara.
- Admin duties including scanning and uploading documents.
Skills
- Operational Skills: This position requires an individual experienced in the movement of freight and driver relations. We are looking for a fundamentally solid performer who is consistently able to facilitate multiple projects and remain productive under pressure.
- Management: This position requires experience in managing and coaching others. Troubleshooting any issues with a driver pick up or delivery to ensure proper freight delivery.
- Analysis: Coordinating with operational staff in order to receive maximum productivity from drivers while operating within DOT, OSHA and other company safety departments.
- Communication: This position requires the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers; and the ability to confront and resolve performance or service issues with drivers and customers effectively.
- Technological skills are required to use the various systems we have in place.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years related experience preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Familiarization with DOT and OSHA rules and regulations is a plus.
- Fleet management experience as well as dispatch software.
- Strong analysis and decision-making skills.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
