Job Summary
Executes complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resulting managerial reports and financial statements. Manages accounting staff and oversees the general accounting function and maintenance of the general ledger and subledgers in recording accounts payable, payroll, and related journal entries.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis prepared by accounting staff related to the general ledger and subledgers for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, fixed assets, etc.
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the fixed asset system, corporate credit card system, and sales and use tax reporting.
- Responsible for the preparation of more complex journal entries, account reconciliations, or account analyses on a monthly basis.
- Key contact for banking and treasury relationships. Performs treasury functions, including detailed monitoring and review of the cash management process (lock box, credit cards, check scanner, AP ACH process).
- Prepares annual insurance renewal submissions and applications for general liability, workers compensation, and other insurance coverage.
- Identifies problems and develops and implements automation and process enhancements to improve accuracy and productivity of accounting systems, processes, and staff engaged in conducting accounting procedures.
- Responsible for the management, coaching, performance, and development of staff. Assigns work and gives work direction to accounting staff. Monitors deadlines and resolves conflicts to ensure the timely completion of tasks and department goals.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization, the government, and outside auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper documentation is maintained for historical purposes.
- Prepares tax returns and compliance.
- Represents the department in organizational meetings, and provides accounting information to other departments and locations.
- May handle complaints or issues elevated to a senior accounting staff member for resolution.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required.
- Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills.
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar position.
- Demonstrated record of integrity and professionalism with sensitive information.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to both financial and non-financial team members.
- Ability to work with all levels of employees and management.
- Understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
- Understanding of accounting and financial processes.
