Budget Analyst 2 Job Posting
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles is recruiting an experienced Budget Analyst. Under general supervision, the position will analyze, interpret, and develop budgetary data and related reports. Duties include budget are not limited to:
Budget Preparation and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of the agency’s budget requests, analyze budget proposals, and develop the agency’s annual operating budget.
Budget Revisions: Recommend, prepare and process budget revisions as needed, consult with budget management to ensure budget adjustments are made in accordance with program changes, and communicate changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Expenditure Monitoring: Track and monitor agency expenditures, ensure expenditures are within budgetary limits, identify cost-saving opportunities, and identify and report any discrepancies to budget management.
Budget Performance: Monitor budget performance, conduct variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgeted figures, identify surpluses and deficits, offer solutions and recommendations, suggest corrective actions, report findings to management, and work with budget management to resolve issues.
Data Collection and Analysis: Run queries and reports, collect and analyze financial data from various sources, determine resources required to implement projects, and provide insights and recommendations based on analysis.
Forecasting and Projections: Develop financial forecasts and projections and analyze historical data, financial trends, and proposed legislation to support budget decisions.
Financial Reporting: Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data, prepare detailed budget-related reports and financial summaries, and present analysis findings and recommendations to management for review.
Compliance and Regulations: Examine budgets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal budgetary regulations, assist in the development and implementation of budgetary policies and procedures, and conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
Grant Management Support: Assist in the financial management of grants, monitor grant expenditures, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and prepare financial reports for grant-funded projects.
Special Projects: Participate in special financial projects as assigned, conduct research and analysis for specific initiatives, and provide support for strategic financial planning and decision-making.
