Test Lab Inspector

Reports to: Test Lab Supervisor Work Location: Clear Lake, SD

Functional Area: Quality Required Travel: None

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: TBD

Job Summary: The Inspector/Test Lab will inspect manufactured or processed products to determine compliance with order specifications and compile reports of examinations of inspected products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Inspects products to determine compliance with order specifications, Tech Ord’s Quality Management Systems and legal requirements.

2. Examines records to match findings with certification requirements.

3. Submits samples of product to government laboratory for testing per department procedures.

4. Stamps mark of approval or rejection on product, prepares report of examinations and assembles paperwork package.

5. Performs other work related tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).

2. Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.

3. Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.

4. High school diploma or GED is required.

5. A background in quality assurance process and/or in production environment is preferred.

6. Knowledge of manufacturing processes is preferred.

7. Understanding of ISO requirements is preferred.

8. Familiarity with common measuring instruments as well as conventional and geometric tolerance.

9. Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.

10. Ability to work with other employees as part of a team.

11. Ability to learn and be proficient with multiple product lines upon hire.

12. Excellent organizational skills.

13. Ability to set and establish priorities in support of end-result/goal.

While performing the duties of this job:

1. Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.

2. Seated work for up to 90% of the workday.

3. Occasionally required to stand and/or walk both indoors and outdoors.

4. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.

5. Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds with assistance.

6. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.

7. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.

8. Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.

9. Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50 percent cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety footwear.
