Position Summary:
The Bus Driver drives bus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule, assists passengers with baggage and collects tickets or cash fares, regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort, complies with local traffic regulations, and reports delays or accidents. The Bus Driver records cash receipts and ticket fares, may make repairs and change tires, may inspect bus and check gas, oil, and water before departure, load or unload baggage or express checked by passengers in baggage compartment; transports pupils between pickup points and school, and may drive diesel or electric powered transit bus to transport passengers over established city route.
Position Description:
- Drives buses for transportation of passengers per scheduled mission requirements to local or distant points as directed as per submitted request(s)
- Assists passengers and military units as required
- Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort
- Complies with local, state, and federal traffic regulations
- Inspects bus unit per DOT regulations, responsibilities include confirming fuel, oil, and water levels before departing for a scheduled mission
- Loads/Unloads checked passenger baggage into bus cargo storage compartment if required
- Drivers shall abide by all rules and regulations of the Shuttle Service Operations
- Must report schedule delays, vehicle damage, or accidents to Shuttle Service Supervisor immediately upon occurrence
- Responsible for pre-check inspections, record keeping, dispatching, maintaining, utilizing, cleaning, and refueling of the equipment they are utilizing.
- Drive 12 passenger vans and 44 passenger buses to complete 3 different shuttle services 7 days a week, however not limited to support mission requirements
- All other duties assigned by Supervisor
Basic Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years of age
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and background checks related to the position
- Valid state driver's license
- Must have and maintain a CDL Class A license or Class B license with passenger endorsement and Medical Clearance Card for entire time of employment.
- Must have an air brake certification
- Minimum of 2 years experience driving a shuttle bus/van in a transportation environment
- 3 Years recorded driving experience visible on your Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
- Must be extremely customer focused
- Familiarity with the greater Fort Wainwright area
