The opportunity
The Managing Editor serves as the editorial lead for the project management software topic team, and is also charged with the development and management of editorial personnel and writing for the project management software topic as the team grows.
They are personally responsible for meeting or exceeding production KPIs while remaining within budget. They are charged with the creation, maintenance, and assignment of the project management software topic's editorial calendar and backlog, and oversee the copy editing and publishing backlogs.
They partner with the Sr. Staff Writer, the SEO team, and the Revenue team to ensure the project management software topic is covered appropriately. They coordinate with the site's other Managing Editors to ensure the entire site is publishing consistently. They work closely with Content Operations to source and recruit freelancers. They coordinate with the Creative and Content Marketing teams to develop high-value multimedia content for their topic.
They are responsible for ensuring the Writers, Content Production Assistants, and Copy Editors that report to them are properly utilized across the site. Further, they are responsible for their direct reports meeting or exceeding their own KPIs, and thus conduct quality checks regularly. As the project management software topic's editorial leader, they are responsible for ensuring all published copy aligns with the site's audience, mission, and vision.
What you'll do
- Plan, assign, develop, and edit 15 pieces of content a week for the project management software topic team, which covers project management software, best practices, work productivity, and organizational improvement topics
- Work closely with freelancers and internal staff to meet production goals and continually raise quality standards
- Strategize with SEO and monetization teams to support revenue goals
- Manage a staff of up to four writers, copy editors, video specialists and/or production assistants for the topic area
- Work with fellow topic team leads to plan and execute against the content strategy, keeping quality and production speed as priorities
