Junior Python Developer (GIS Focus)

General Summary: The software developer will be responsible for strategizing ideas for beneficial software, coordinating with individual project Managers/Coordinators and collaborate with other developers to design the software tools needed.  The individual will be tasked with developing, assisting, and refining software programs or systems that align with TechServ’s needs by creating code libraries, reviewing design elements to ensure that the client’s deadlines are met.

Responsibilities and Duties

Core Responsibilities

• • • Analyze business and work practices currently employed across multiple projects and develop optimizations tools to improve business efficacy.
    • Develop scripts to alleviate or automate both GIS and business workflows.
      • Maintains existing applications/services
    • Can perform various types of geographic data analysis
      • Can develop graphical dashboards to streamlines presentation of business intelligence data.
    • Maintains ArcGIS Online Resources and AWS services
      • Interact and update local and cloud-based data sources and APIs programmatically.
      • Conducts performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications
    • Works closely with other developers and architects
    • Estimates work effort and proposes development solutions
    • Provides end user support and creates support documentation

Day to day duties

• • • Update and maintain online datasets and services in ArcGIS Online and other Cloud Platforms
    • Produce programs utilizing Python, to automate workflows
    • Attend project specific meetings and propose methods to build more efficient workflows
    • Research and develop new methods and technologies

Qualifications and Skills

• • • Knowledge in Python, SQL(Postgres/PostGIS)
    • Knowledge in ArcGIS products and ArcGIS Online services
    • Understanding of APIs and REST services

Nice-to-have

• • • • Knowledge AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud services
      • Knowledge in HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Django, or other backend/frontend frameworks
      • Knowledge in CI/CD technologies and concepts (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
      • Knowledge of other database technologies (i.e., SQL Server, Redis, etc...)
      • Knowledge in Katapult, SPIDA or other pole analysis software.

Education/Experience

Junior:
