Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Industrial Instrumentation Technician. Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career oriented individual to fill this role.
Reporting to the Reporting to the Red Dog Business Improvement Team Leader and the Manager of Technology Delivery, RACE21™, the Industrial Instrumentation Technician, RACE21™ is responsible for the routine preventative maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, general care practices, and calibration of installed instruments identified as part of Advanced Analytics modeling or work streams.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Install and calibrate instruments used for measurement and control in production
- Repair and maintain process control field instrumentation
- Troubleshoot instrumentation devices
- Apply factory acceptance testing and field inspections
- Maintain master equipment list for Advanced Analytics work streams
- Build a stock schedule and critical spares list
- Maintain and apply design criteria specifications
- Apply industry recognized standards
- Collaborate with the advanced analytics team and the advanced process control engineer
- Perform in a collaborative environment with various trades
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have completed an approved Instrumentation or electrical apprenticeship program or carry an electrical license or certification. Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a combined electrical and instrumentation apprenticeship
- Minimum ten years’ experience in Electrical/Instrumentation and controls design in mining, oil/gas, power or other industrial environment required
- Ability to tackle motor control circuits, understand electrical schematics and wire diagrams, install and calibrate flow, pressure and level meters, utilize electrical test equipment, and troubleshoot power generation
- Experience with control systems, DCS, and PLC experience would be an asset
- A current and valid driver’s license
- Experience in arctic environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Willing to work 12-hour days for two weeks followed by two weeks R&R
Successful Candidates must be fully vaccinated against infection by COVID-19, subject to an exemption approved by Teck Alaska.
