What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at Tecomet?
Setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies are all tasks performed by the CNC Machinist II.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Follow work instructions and machine programs and engineering drawings to operate and set up CNC machines within specified tolerances.
- Perform challenging CNC machining tasks, such as progressive machining of a range of parts and metals with extremely tight tolerances;
- To compensate for tooling wear, replace dull tooling and/or make minor offsets and adjustments.
- Working to operator owned quality (OOQ) standards and regulations, including employing a variety of measurement equipment and interpreting readings, ensures product quality.
- Follow the daily machine checklist for routine maintenance and stick to the PM schedule.
- Hand-finish the project;
- GMP/GDP (Good Manufacturing and Documentation Practices) must be followed at all times, including the completion of work routers/cards.
- Ensure that safe working practices are followed in order to reduce hazards to the job holder and/or coworkers, including recognizing and reporting Safety, Health, and Environmental concerns.
- Identify approaches to improve productivity and meet defined productivity goals.
On the job tracking system, keep track of all operations in a timely manner.
- Recognize and assist Activities for Continuous Improvement;
- Identify and escalate manufacturing issues to the Team Leader and/or Supervisor, if needed, and participate in their resolution.
- Maintain 5S/cleanliness requirements in the work space;
- As needed or as assigned by the supervisor, performs other jobs or special projects.
Qualification Requirements
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Associates degree/certificate in Tooling & Machining or Machinist apprenticeship preferred.
3 – 5 years CNC Swiss experience.
Experience of working in a production environment, preferred

- Knowledge of how to run, set up, and maintain a CNC machine
- Multiple CNC machines can be run at the same time.
- Solid math abilities, such as measuring and keeping track of counts, are required.
