POSITION OVERVIEW

The Curator is a key member of TED’s curation team, with a direct connection to the Media and Partnerships teams. The Curator is responsible for selecting and working with speakers for digital series and programs and partnerships-driven events, including acting as host or interviewer. The Curator has broad interests in all the topics TED covers, first-hand experience of the digital publishing platforms in which TED participates and extensive hosting and interviewing experience. They are also an excellent collaborator, working with TED's specialist curators to bring the finest minds to our screens.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Possess 5 years of experience working in digital content creation or related field
• Well established digital media presence
• Fluency in digital content trends and understanding of what works online (and what doesn’t)
• Journalistic experience, including presenting, hosting and live interviewing
• Unflappable presence and the ability to react and respond smartly to an interviewee in real time
• Strong writing and content creation skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Incredible contacts. You can invite an interesting, eclectic and diverse group of speakers from day one
• Ability and interest in working effectively with speakers regardless of nationality, race, language, gender, political affiliation, religion, income, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify opportunities for digital series and programming (and then work to make them a reality)
• Collaborate closely with TED’s other curators and colleagues on the media team to develop and create digital content series designed to delight and thrill an online audience
• Identify editorial gaps in current programming and work thoughtfully to broaden and diversify TED’s programming
• Use data to inform curatorial decisions and collaborate closely with media team partners to ensure that content is audience-responsive in nature
• Think creatively about breaking the classic TED talk format to attract and engage a new audience
• Collaborate closely with the partnerships team to develop series that are interesting to the market
• Host events (onstage at partnerships-driven events and onscreen for programs including Membership events, LinkedIn Live series, etc) and conduct sparkling live interviews
