What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at TEG?
Our hospitality client has a new opening for an HR Generalist. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to respond timely to requests from Area Directors, Field Management and Team Members. Candidate must be high energy, organized and passionate about balancing both compliance and culture.
Responsibilities Include
- Team Member relations intake, tracking investigation and resolution of Team Member issues while ensuring fairness and legal compliance.
- Provide coaching and counseling to appropriate parties based on information obtained in investigations.
- Assist management in documenting and reviewing progressive forms of discipline.
- Work with Area Director and General Manager to review and sign off on all involuntary terminations.
- Onsite HR/Risk assessments including summarizing results and follow up.
- Keep leadership informed of all HR related policies and changes to employment law in each state in advance. Work with L&D to develop and coordinate communication strategy to the field when laws change.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state specific required training i.e. harassment prevention and workplace violence training.
- Coordinate worker’s comp claims with carrier to ensure required paperwork is complete and administration and coordinate return to work.
- Mentorship of HR coordinator.
- Administration of job protected absences (workers comp, FMLA, etc.) Obtain paperwork from Team Member, coordinate approvals and return to work with management and payroll.
- Perform exit interviews for voluntary management terminations.
- Unemployment claims – set up electronic filing in all states, file timely responses, ensure proper documentation, provide coaching to management when necessary.
- E-verify management.
- Focal Point Review management and administration.
- Complete voluntary employment surveys (BLS, etc.)
Federal, state and local posted material kept up to date.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and/or PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. - Knowledge and understanding of federal and state specific employment law. Experience with California employment law a must.
- Experience managing leaves of absence including Illinois and California.
- Familiar with paid time off laws in Illinois and California.
- HR experience with multi-site/multi-state, hospitality highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and provide mutual resolution quickly and efficiently.
- Strong employee relations management skills with proven track record of resolution.
- Proficiency in using HRIS technology.
- Excel – intermediate.
- Some travel required.
