We are seeking a Materials Manager for our Huntington, Indiana Plant.
Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in organization, inventory control activities, and shipping/receiving by performing the following duties personally or through other associates. Manage systems and personnel for materials from in and out bound and warehouse operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for environmental, health, and safety issues in materials area.
- Establish and enforce safety rules and guidelines.
- Participate in the planning of personnel safety and protection activities consistent with OSHA/IOSHA and all regulatory agency standards and guidelines and ensure all reporting associates are trained and comply.
- Responsible for housekeeping and 5-S.
- Interface with customer regarding defective materials, customer specifications/standards and quality.
- Establish and maintain a well-motivated team including training, supporting and developing each team member to maximize output and results.
- Keep abreast of materials related to the Company's needs, through trade publications, papers, seminars, and classes.
- Ensure compliance with all local, State, and Federal laws and statutes including labor laws and other governmental regulations, which are directly applicable to the company.
- Establish department goals to support production and strategic initiatives.
- Provide department operating guidelines and policies.
- Compile, record, and manage material database.
- Determine manning needs and schedule department activities.
- Establish and manage department training requirements and ensure training documentation and completion.
- Develop, document, and provide for continuous improvement.
- Support *TS16949 and ISO14001 initiatives.
- Audits internal *TS16949 Procedures.
- Establish and prepare operating budget and training requirements.
- Conduct weekly communications meeting with reporting associates. Ensure open and continuous communication.
- Support and enforce the use of the Functional Organization, and enforce the use of applicable operating policies and procedures.
- Assist with production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
- Plan department operations and establish priorities based on strategic plan.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Manage incoming material issues to support production.
- Manage material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.
- Manage shipment activity to support customer requirements.
- Manage inventory control processes/operations within the organization.
- Identify and implement improvements to internal scheduling, inventory control, and purchasing systems.
- Monitor purchasing systems and procedures.
Qualifications:
- At least ten years of experience in materials and inventory control within manufacturing and automotive industry preferred.
- Must have at least two years of managerial or supervisory experience.
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Materials Management or related field from a credited college, university or technical school.
