As part of our Technology Services team, you’ll help develop our IT, security, compliance and internal systems and tools to meet the needs of our business. As the Privacy Analyst for TELUS Agriculture and Consumer Goods (TAC), you will materially influence the ongoing development of TAC’s business innovation, ensuring that all TAC initiatives meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards. You will collaborate with, advise and guide the business in addressing privacy and data considerations in a manner that demonstrates TAC commitment to putting team members and customers and their privacy first. You will be an integral member of the TAC Technology Risk & Controls team. This team is tasked with solving some of our organization's most complex challenges while building a thriving community of practice around data ethics and data governance. You will be a champion for Privacy and you will advocate for TAC’s Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all of our decisions around data, recognizing how critical customer and team member trust is to TAC’s mission.
Here’s how:
- Support the development of a data program that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers while simultaneously ensuring TAC’s ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value to our stakeholders.
- Add value and support business units to deploy or leverage technology ethically by providing expert advice and counsel to execute on TAC’s data handling frameworks.
- Educate and advise the business team on new data, privacy, and ethical uses, and provide strategies to address privacy and data governance considerations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure adherence to the TAC’s Trust Model.
- Assist in designing and documenting processes that standardize best practices and support an agile development methodology.
- Evaluate and report on the performance of the program using established success metrics.
- Learn continuously, innovate every day and seek opportunities to develop and demonstrate thought-leadership.
What you bring to this role:
- Valued for your knowledge and expertise in applying international privacy laws, such as the GDPR and CPRA, as well as Canadian private sector legislation.
- Providing guidance and implementing best practices to ensure a robust data privacy program.
- Understanding of data ethics, operational data governance and data protection.
- Effective in communicating data risks in written form and verbally communicating progress on initiatives in leadership forums.
- Recognized for your leadership capability to collaborate and accomplish goals with others.
- Known for your ability to influence and negotiate effectively, to be a persuasive advocate.
- Recognized for your excellent interpersonal skills to build and foster relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Known for your conflict resolution skills with a focus on win-win solutions.
- Ability to protect the TELUS brand and act with a sense of urgency to efficiently assess material impacts and effectively mitigate risk.
- Appreciated for excellent and problem solving skills and your ability to distill complex and/or ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements.
- Noted for the ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying opportunities to support and enhance respect for privacy.
- Highly adaptable, and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor degree.
- Solid experience in applying privacy law and principles.
- International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification or willingness and ability to become certified within 6 months.
