Role
As Director of Finance, you will report financial management responsibilities to the COO. In this role, you will own and develop the Finance function, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting & Tax, Treasury, and Finance Operations. You will be responsible for financial planning and reporting, including monthly accounting, cross-functional budget development and management, and quarterly re-forecasts. In addition, you will have ownership of spend control processes and policies, as well as all finance and accounting-related duties associated with M&A transactions. This role will be instrumental in scaling the business and maintaining the financial health of Tempus Ex.
We're looking for an individual who'll bring new ideas, challenge us, and roll up their sleeves when needed. It's an extensive remit within a fast-paced environment, and an exciting time to join the business.
Requirements
- 8 years of accounting or FP&A experience at a high-growth technology startup or comparative experience at a Big 4 accounting/private equity firm.
- Expertise in financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modeling for tech companies during their growth stage
- Accounting and/or finance qualifications, such as CPA
- Experience in accounting, corporate finance, bookkeeping, taxes, contracts, and fulfilling requirements associated with international M&A transactions
- Led or participated in successful venture capital fundraising, company-wide spend reduction, investor relations, and Board financial reporting
- Strong leadership skills and cross-functional capabilities, with proven success in building/managing best-in-class teams, practices, systems, and cultures that contribute to strong organizational execution
- Natural ownership mindset with minimal managerial oversight required to see processes and tasks through end-to-end
- Experience overseeing finance operations from a global/remote perspective
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and the ability to learn DCAA accounting standards and principles
- Experience collaborating successfully with outsourced Finance & Accounting solution providers
- Excellent written and presentation skills with a strong executive presence
- A proven track record of improving and simplifying processes & driving standardization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Previous startup experience or demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and drive to succeed in a fast-paced startup environment
- Multi-faceted and willing to assist in both administrative tasks and technical, strategic finance duties
