CAMP PHOTOGRAPHER

The camp photographer captures and creates aesthetic images to support year-round marketing and communications. To be a camp photographer you must be a college graduate, and possess a high level of experience/expertise with photography. The Photographer’s skill set must include use of photo editing software, aperture, white balance, shutter speed, focus (manual and auto), ISO, and image formats (JPEG, RAW). The Photographer must be able to organize digital pictures into appropriate folders, and organize own time as it relates to photo opportunities around camp. Photographer must be aware of and able to identify campers who are not permitted to be photographed.

Tenacre staff members are safe, nurturing, creative and positive in their approach to campers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Degree or equivalent life experience.
  • Experience with photography.
  • Good health and physical stamina. Emotionally mature, responsible, and punctual.
  • Team player and willing to work hard.
  • Ability to take direction from Camp Directors, as well as act independently.
  • Ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and/or emergency situations.
  • Preferred - Background in childhood development and previous experience in a camp or school setting
  • Preferred – Experience with social media or marketing material
  • Preferred – Experience creating with video editing
  • Preferred - Available to work Mon-Fri for the entire camp season
  • Preferred - Available for training dates
  • Be reliable and responsible.
  • Be responsive to feedback.

The mission of Tenacre Day Camp is to nurture and challenge each child every day. We also put an emphasis on what we call the “Tenacre TIGER values”: Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm, Responsibility. These values are often the focus of conversations at camp.

We also expect our staff to be able to teach children right from wrong and challenge them to be better, kinder people. This often requires our staff to say “no” to certain behaviors so we can say “yes” to a better camp culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • REPORT TO: Director of Summer Programs
  • Capture and create photographs that highlight the personal growth, relationship building, and fun that happens at camp.
  • Ensure marketing content is of top quality.
  • Submit required paperwork: Application, 3 Recommendations, COVID vaccination card, Health History and Insurance Card, Emergency Info Card, Physician’s Form, Contract, W4, I9 w/ 2 form of ID, Disclosure Form, CORI, SORI, and Certifications.
  • Check-in each morning at 7:50 a.m., read the Morning Notes, and then participate in arrival if assigned, and with dismissal at 3:15 as assigned.
  • Plan schedule of photo opportunities by incorporating information regarding activities, weather, and deadlines
  • Take candid and posed photos around camp, taking measures to ensure there is an equal number of photographs for each group.
  • Conduct daily check of the equipment/supplies for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Organize pictures on an on-going basis
  • Discern between acceptable backgrounds, poses, and posts.
  • Edit pictures as needed
  • Create daily social media posts
  • Be available to work every day of the scheduled camp season or contracted weeks.
  • Frequently communicate with the camp administration to ensure projects are on track.
  • On a weekly basis, create a slide show of pictures for the end of week celebration.
  • Create a Staff Slide Show for the end of summer celebration with equal representation of each staff member.
  • Participate in staff training, and attend all other staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Read the Tenacre Staff Manual, and follow the policies and procedures outlined within.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while serving as a good role model to campers and staff in personal language, appearance, manners, and health habits.
  • Be sensitive to individual camper allergy issues.Tenacre Day Camp is a peanut/nut aware camp.
  • Be responsible for notifying the Director of Summer Programs about any problems or issues that may arise involving safety, behaviors, etc.
  • Properly store and care for all materials both during and at the close of camp.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, which includes staff ID tag, sneakers, socks, t-shirt with sleeves (no tank tops and must be long enough to cover midsection), and appropriate length shorts. All clothing must be in good repair (no rips or tears), and cannot advertise alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, or other inappropriate emblems, symbols or logos. Each staff member will be given a Tenacre t-shirt at the beginning of the camp season that must be worn on the first day of each session, at the 2 Family Picnics, and at the June Open House.
  • Be prepared to participate in all kinds of weather, wearing appropriate clothing. Plan, prepare and participate in age appropriate activities for rainy days.

ABOUT OUR CAMP

Tenacre Day Camp is situated in a friendly, caring, elementary school setting in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The foundation of our success is the quality of our staff, a supportive and nurturing environment, and a welcoming place where each child belongs. We operate 8 weeks each summer. The administration and staff strive to make every child feel comfortable and safe in a fun camp setting. Founded in 1973, the camp’s noncompetitive environment fosters self-esteem and individual accomplishments. We serve children ages 3-12.

Camp is divided into three sections:

  • Our Full-Day program is for our campers entering grades K-6. Campers stay for the full day (8:00am-3:45pm).
  • Our Threes program is for campers who are 3 years old. These campers leave every day at 1pm and staff stay for a meeting until 1:30pm.
  • Our Four program is for campers who are 4 years old. These campers attend camp for a full day (8:00am-3:45pm) M/W/F and leave at 1pm on T/Th.
