ABOUT THE JOB
As a Lead Electrician at Tepa, you will work on projects across the United States. We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, as it is a traveling position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor, so some pay rates will be determined by project and location.
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing and assisting the electrical team with the installation and repair of complex electrical systems, control systems, lighting systems and working from technical blueprints and specifications.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Experienced ability to read and understand, analyze and interpret blue prints, mechanical and electrical diagrams and schematics, technical documents and procedures
- Self-motivation and integrity to work with little or no daily supervision
- Able to communicate well with all levels of personnel on site and within the organization
- Comfortable working from plans and specifications to complete material take-offs and project essential planning.
- Provides construction/shop/as-built drawings of equipment pads, sleeves, feeders, electrical rooms, duct-banks, etc.
- Assists and verifies electricians have PPE, material, training, and work plans to perform their assigned duties
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition, and operated by competent persons only.
- Follows all safety precautions and procedures, and not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker
- Read technical documents such as Technical Statements of Work, Wiring Diagrams, and Mechanical/Plumbing schematics
- Perform general electrical maintenance on equipment – can identify weakness in systems and recommend improvement.
- Trained in LOTO, and ARC Flash Safety procedures to safely isolate, inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other energized electrical components.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices and safety equipment.
- Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations outlined National Electrical Code state and local building regulations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical power distribution, motor control centers, VFD drives and motor control centers
- Good knowledge of various test equipment, testing proceedures, and proper documentation for owner record.
- Maintain an attitude of willingness to learn and grow in a team environment
- Prepare, layout and assemble Rigid Steel, PVC Coated Rigid Conduit systems in Class 1 Division 1 & 2 areas.
- Installs safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, control devices, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Troubleshoots damaged systems and units to identify hazards or malfunctions; recommends repairs
- Coordinates installation schedules in weekly meetings with other trades, GC and owners rep on project sites
- Produces daily safety, manpower, production, and job-site condition reports to Project Manager.
- Monitor daily procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained and that schedules are maintained
- Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A minimum of 5 years as a journeyman level
- Must have a current Journeyman Electrician license
- 3 years as Crew Lead or Foreman
- Familiar with Industrial Construction, Refinery Operation, and/or Fuel Operations
- May be required to hold a license up to and including Master Electrician Certificate
- Deep electrical system, power generation, blueprints and maintenance and repair knowledge
- Extensive Travel may be required.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers and all other personnel on site.
- Able to lead crew as a team.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and back ground check.
- Must be able to get badged on Military Facilities.
Preferred (not required):
- Master Electrician Certificate
- Electrician degree from a technical college.
