Terra Nova Environmental Solutions, LLC. (TNES) offers industrial and remedial services to several industries including manufacturing, transportation, retail and energy in the eastern and midwestern United States. The Field Technician / Laborer would report directly to the Director of Remediation and would play a critical role in maintaining and operating light equipment and performing physical labor needed to complete Environmental Remediation Projects. The Field Technician / Laborer will be able to perform physical construction work, light demolition, small machine operation, tank cleaning and industrial cleaning. The Field Technician / Laborer daily task will be directed by the project Superintendent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Completion of all job-specific, employee related paper work including timesheets, daily work reports, driver’s logs, equipment inspection forms and tailgate safety meeting forms
- Safely and professionally operate company owned equipment in complete accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Support and play an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety management system including hazard communication, tracking, near miss documentation, audits and training.
- Ability to use/operate basic construction tools, small and large electric pumps, fuel powered equipment, plate compactors, chain saw, etc..
- Ability to operate light equipment such as skid-steer loaders.
- Ability to travel and work in different states as projects require.
- Ability to perform work under sustained hours, uncomfortable weather conditions and rough terrain.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); use of hand tools, power tools, bending, shoveling and physically demanding tasks.
- Provide other leadership skills on some sites depending on skill sets.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience performing related work (general construction, industrial cleaning, emergency response).
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Experience working in a hazardous waste environment.
- Qualified employees should possess the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Must show demonstrated success in being reliable and maintaining safe operations
- Must be a creative problem solver have strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate with others.
- Must be available for emergency rotations.
- Confined Space Training, CPR/First Aid Training are desirable.
