The Director of Accounting will be responsible for directing and overseeing the financial activities
of the Company including financial plans, accounting policy, accounting practices and reporting,
cost accounting, and financial forecasting and analysis. The individual will require the necessary
technical knowledge to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, company
policies and external audits. The successful candidate will be expected to implement and enforce
internal control for safeguarding of company assets while directing accounting personnel.
Additionally, they must have strong accounting knowledge to keep division management informed
with accurate information in decision making. The position will be responsible for leading and
improving department functions, as well as training and development of subordinate staff, assigning
work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational
policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct the monthly financial statement close process from pre-close activities to financial statement
issuance ensuring compliance with prescribed closing and reporting schedules while maintaining
a high level of accuracy and compliance with US GAAP.
Direct the general accounting and payroll functions, with the ability to develop and mentor talent
across the accounting team.
Oversight and review of reconciliations and analytical reviews of operating results to ensure
accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting for corporate departments.
Takes a leadership role in the development of long range and annual operating plans.
Providing financial leadership, analytics, and business recommendations to senior
management.
Direct the administration and execution of the strategic forecast, business plan and financial
budgets as part of the strategic management process.
Direct the annual external audit process with the external auditors and internal accounting
team, with the objective for the timely and accurate completion of the annual audit.
Directs the development of accounting policies, and administers approved accounting
procedures.
Assures taxes (payroll, income, personal property, franchise, sales and use, and real estate)
are filed timely and accurately for each company location.

Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and
reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Prepare consolidated corporate reporting package for the CFO.
Provide effective and timely financial information, business insights/analytics and business
performance evaluations.
Drives performance through use of analytics; identifies trends and recommends courses of
action to improve operating results.
Provide leadership and direction to the finance and accounting team members.
Prepares special reports and analysis by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and
trends and makes recommendations that align with strategic initiatives.
Identify, recommend and implement strategic opportunities to improve operating performance
Provide oversight and direction of property and liability insurance programs
Manages capital spending by preparing short and long term capital expenditure budgets,
manages, monitors, and audits actual spending to ensure compliance to policy and procedure.
Contributes to team effort by mentoring and guiding plant management in achieving business results
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the
Company policies, the Code of Conduct and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
Education
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Accounting or Finance and
a minimum of ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA is preferred.
Skills/Experience
10 years of accounting and/or finance experience, with 2 years of experience in
manufacturing
Preferably in a low volume high mix product portfolio manufacturing environment
Experience using an ERP system - JDE experience is strongly preferred
Expert Excel user, with a strong understanding of databases, queries and reports
Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the proven ability to develop personnel (expert)
Travel
Employee may have occasional travel up to 20% of the time (domestic and international).
