Overview:
TES Staffing, in collaboration with Action for Better Community (ABC), is actively seeking passionate Head Start Teachers dedicated to fostering the growth and development of children within our community. As a Head Start Teacher, you will be responsible for managing the classroom environment, facilitating social, physical, and intellectual growth, and ensuring a safe and culturally appropriate learning environment. This role also involves supervising assistant teachers and volunteers, while employing a relationship-based approach in interactions with children, families, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the classroom environment to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in children.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and culturally appropriate learning environment.
- Supervise and oversee assistant teachers and classroom volunteers.
- Utilize a relationship-based approach in interactions with children, families, and staff.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Completion of a 5-year plan to obtain a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and NYS Teacher Certification for Head Start classrooms operated in partnership with the Rochester City School District.
- One to two years of experience teaching in an early childhood setting.
- Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
- Strong administrative, analytical, evaluative, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers.
- Physical capability to work in a classroom setting, including the ability to sit on the floor or in child-sized chairs, bend, run, climb stairs, and lift children weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Subject to the collective bargaining agreement.
- All employees must receive and maintain full clearance from the Justice Center of New York and the Office of Children and Family Services, allowing unsupervised contact with children.
