Job Summary:
Under direct supervision lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components, enclosures and sub-assemblies to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Responsible for TIG and/ or MIG welding of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel metals to fabricate enclosures and sub-assemblies. Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to customer drawings and specifications, or other forms of instruction. Perform all duties as assigned and assist department supervisor on all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Set-up and operate welding equipment to perform TIG/ MIG welding operations on a variety of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel components
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product
- Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
- Operating other accessory equipment and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs
- Weld and square up commercial grade electrical enclosures and sub-assemblies
- Have the ability to operate small fabrication machine exam; band- saw, drill press, and power shear.
- Complete jobs assigned by the Metal shop supervisor
- Perform maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipment for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment
- Perform general cleanup around shop
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of an internal welding test
- One-year experience in various forms of welding
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
Knowledge:
- Ability to read blueprints
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read units of measure
Training and License Requirements:
- Tesco Controls, Inc safety training program
Physical Demands:
- Hand, eye, and manual dexterity
- Required to stand for long periods of time, reach, and bend
- Required to lift up to 60 lbs
