The Role
The Tool and Die Specialist will report to the Tool and Die Supervisor and will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on automotiveinjection molds. Excellent tool and die craftsmanship skills is crucial for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in similar environments. He/she must have the ability to work with various teams within manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance repair and modification of automotive injection molds ranging from small 200t interior parts to large 3000t fascia
- Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely manner
- Repair and/or fabricate cores, cavities and various other components
- Hand work repairs to part details, parting lines, lifters, slides, polished cavities, texture, venting and spotting
- Maintain mold PM systems, including following and developing detailed work instructions manage on schedule completion of PM activities
- Identify and implement proactive systems to achieveconsistent reduction in injection molding defects and productivity concerns
- Support designengineering to evaluate feasibility and implementation of tooling changes to accommodatepart change
- Assist process engineering with part processing and troubleshooting for ongoing scrap reduction, cycle time reduction and downtime reduction
- Support production floor calls with quality, mold performance, etc.
- Basic electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair (i.e. hot runner system, slide or core action limit switches, SVG cylinders)
- Maintain and stock mold spare parts
- Follow die cleaning method and adherence to schedule
Work Environment / Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physical work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to lift, push, and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
- 5 years hands-on experience working in mold maintenance and repair
- Processes machining skills for minor mold component repair/replacement
- TIG welding experience preferred
- Willingness to relocate and travel
- Strong analytic problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Work efficiently and productivity in independent and team settings
- Communicate clearlyusing excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience with interpretation of dimensional inspections results (checking fixture, CMM or vision system)
- Able to work well under pressure whilemanaging competing demands and tight deadlines
- Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success. work with little or no supervision
- Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
- Experience in new vehicle development and launch activities
- Fluent with common MC office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
