Tetra Tech Architects and Engineers is seeking an ATHLETIC FIELD CIVIL ENGINEER or LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT who will be responsible for the planning and design for all aspects of site design, including athletic and sports playfield, track, and court design. This position requires the ability to handle significant projects, client and government agency responsibility, and effectiveness in working with a team.

Our practice provides planning, design and construction phase services for a wide range of building types and clients, from K-12 and higher education facilities in New York to facilities supporting governments worldwide. You’ll work closely with other engineers and architects, who have a long and successful history of delivering complex, innovative, and successful award-winning projects. Most importantly, you’ll be joining a communities-focused, cohesive regional operating unit, supported by national and international resources.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Act as the lead Landscape Architect or Civil Engineer on specific projects
- Perform and direct all aspects of site design including layout / geometry, pedestrian and vehicle circulation, grading, athletic / sports field and court design, site utilities, paving, and planting design
- Responsible for all site design phases, including initial site analysis, master planning, conceptual design, design development and construction documents
- Coordinate development of the site project, including construction costs and budgets
- Prepare project drawings, specifications, and related design reports
- Visit job sites to conduct construction observations, and prepare deficiency reports, punch lists and existing site condition surveys
- Responsible for correspondence and coordination with clients, government agencies, construction administrators, and contractors
- Oversee and mentor assigned Site department team members to accomplish the above tasks
You will achieve your best if you have…
- Registered Landscape Architect license or Professional Engineer license (NY State preferred) with a minimum of 10 years related design experience
- Eight (8) years of project experience in Athletic / Recreational Fields and Courts for Parks and Recreation, K-12 schools, and Higher Education clients
- Experience in designing synthetic and natural turf sports fields and running tracks
- Strong knowledge of State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) process and experience preparing SEQR documents
- Eight (8) years of experience in leading and managing projects and the ability to successfully interact with clients
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word
- Possesses strong communication skills
- Must be able to pass a background check and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

- Knowledge and experience creating SWPPP documents and general understanding of NYSDEC storm water regulations

Estimated Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000. Please note that this range reflects the pay scale that Tetra Tech INE reasonably expects to pay for the role. The pay scale will also depend on various factors, such as job duties and requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
