Summary:
As the Commissioning Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing the commissioning activities for various projects. This role involves working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure that systems are installed, tested, and operated according to design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Your Role:
- Develop comprehensive commissioning plans outlining the scope, schedule, and resources required for each project.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate commissioning activities into the overall project timeline.
- Lead the testing and verification of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control systems to ensure they meet design and performance criteria.
- Oversee the multi-disciplined onsite team comprised of engineers and technicians.
- Identify and resolve any issues or deviations from specifications during the commissioning process.
- Create and maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test procedures, protocols, and reports.
- Provide regular updates to project teams and clients on commissioning progress and any challenges encountered.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and facility operators, to ensure smooth execution of commissioning activities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for commissioning-related inquiries and issues.
- Develop training programs for end-users and operations staff on the newly commissioned systems.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of systems from commissioning to operational phase.
- Ensure that commissioning activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold the integrity of commissioning processes.
- Experience with, executing and leading the following:
- Establish and maintain the commissioning program and plans.
- Execution of Plant Functional Tests
- Management of and organization of commissioning documentation (e.g., test sheets, calibration, confirmation, LO/TO, etc.)
- Manage the activities of sub-contract commissioning teams.
- Ensure that site acceptance tests (SAT's) are completed, defects recorded, and arrangements made to rectify and plant faults.
- Execution of PSSRs.
- Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control;
- Complete I/O check sheets for digital input/outputs and analog input/outputs.
- Troubleshooting PLC code, confirming signals to and from PLC inputs/outputs, and field instruments.
- Configuring and setup of instrumentation devices in the field.
- Configuring and setting up industrial communication devices and protocol/signal converters.
- Troubleshooting network and communication equipment.
- Coordinate training and ensure that training programs are completed as specified.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience and/or tenure performing commissioning duties.
- Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related experience preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Proven experience in commissioning roles, with a focus on complex systems in industrial or commercial projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation & control systems.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with commissioning software and tools.
- Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation & Controls Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Technician equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Commissioning Engineer in Industrial settings.
- Experience in the Solid Waste / Wastewater / Biogas / RNG / Power Generation / natural gas processing market sectors.
- Specialty in mechanical control systems (compressor, blowers, pumps, motors, etc).
- Specialty in networks and communication PLC and SCADA systems as developed and programmed by others.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens systems.
- Working knowledge of HMI Panels and PLCs.
- Deep understanding and has the ability to apply contractual terms & conditions to field implementation.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills including coordination, cooperation, and collaboration between clients/owners, sub-contractors, vendors and equipment suppliers.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
