What are the responsibilities and job description for the Room Management Specialist (EMT/Paramedic/LVN) position at Texas Children's Hospital?
We are searching for a EMT - Room Management Specialist– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will facilitate patient transfers to/from outside healthcare facilities (Transfer Center). To place patients within Texas Children's Hospital (Bed Control) in order to maximize available beds to patients requesting beds based on acuity, diagnosis, age and sex. This is accomplished by cross training in both areas to ensure a working knowledge of both the Transfer Center and Bed Control functions. Room Management works to ensure that Bed Placement Guidelines and state and federal regulations are adhered to.

Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support American Heart Association required
- EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- EMT-B - Emergency Medical Tech-Basic Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- EMT-I - Emergency Medical Tech-Interm Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- EMT-A - Advanced EMT Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- EMT-P - Emergency Medical Tech-Parame Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- LIC PAR - Lic-Paramedic Texas Department of State Health Services required or
- LVN
- Dispatch skills highly preferred
Responsibilities:
- Maximizes available beds to patients requesting beds based on acuity, diagnosis and age
- Processes transfer requests within federal/state regulatory requirements and Hospital policies, procedures and guidelines
- Monitor and/or Maintain data integrity
- Accurately identifies a patient and assigns a unique patient identification number (medical record number) for the Hospital’s Integrated Delivery System
- Participates in the department’s process improvement program
