Job Description
The Database Administrator (DBA) administers databases that are part of the State Health Analytics and Reporting Platform (SHARP) for IDDI Expansion in the AWS GovCloud environment. The DBA works closely with the IDDI agile data engineering team and supports them in the timely delivery of curated data for consumption by downstream reporting and analytics consumers. The DBA is responsible for ensuring the reliability of the databases at the scheduled operational times, enforcing organizational policies and standards related to data classification, data management, and data security. This employee will be provided with training to allow them to function as a backup systems administrator for other tools that are part of the SHARP platform. Additionally, the DBA will collaborate with other stakeholders to formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to data.
Essential Job Functions
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
(25%) Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, apply security patches, and support integration with other ETL/Analytics tools.
(20%) Perform user provisioning and access management using the Principle of Least Privilege principle, monitoring the health of the databases, logging, and auditing to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
(15%) Participate in agile data engineering development and support the team with the database design and implementation based on data pipeline requirements.
(10%) Perform as a backup administrator for other applications (non-database) that are part of the platform.
(10%) Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to data management.
(10%) Perform timely resolution of incidents reported in production and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
(10%) Participate in meetings, report performance metrics, and support project management activities, including but not limited to timekeeping, status reporting, and presentations.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
Working knowledge of cloud networking, infrastructure, storage, and database services.
Experience in administration of databases such as SQL Server, Snowflake, and Oracle.
Experience in database modeling specifically for the analytical workload.
Experience automating routine work in a CI/CD environment.
Experience in integrating databases with tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Data Quality, Tableau, and SAS Viya.
Experience with Kubernetes would be helpful.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Effectively manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize conflicting assignments, and switch quickly between tasks, as required.
Registration Or Licensure Requirements
Initial Selection Criteria:
8 years of Database Administrator (DBA) experience.
Experience with AWS or Azure or similar.
Experience Automating Work In a CI/CD Environment Preferred.
1 year experience with Kubernetes preferred.
Experience On Oracle And SQL Server Preferred
1 year DBA experience with Snowflake is preferred.
